Grammar
Used to say something was NOT a certain way in the past. Like saying "it wasn't..." in English.
Some Japanese describing words use じゃない when they're negative right now. To talk about the past - when something wasn't a certain way - you swap じゃない for じゃなかった. So 静かじゃない (it isn't quiet) becomes 静かじゃなかった (it wasn't quiet). You're looking back and saying "nope, it wasn't like that." Use it any time you're looking back and saying something used to not be true - like "the class wasn't boring" or "it wasn't easy."
[describing word] + じゃなかった Example: 静か → 静かじゃなかった
